Eccleshill is a small suburb of Bradford, West Yorkshire (really the West Riding of Yorkshire!). As it's name suggests, it is a hill, overlooking the Aire Valley. Around 2 square miles in size with a population of 14,800. Although a high proportion of the population are recent migrants (10%)*, there's is far less Asian influence that other areas of Bradford (less than 1%).*
In the past important industrys were pottery, engineering and textiles. All these industrys have now declined, most residents now work in Leeds or Bradford, although the district still has a number of small to medium size businesses.
The main road through Eccleshill is the A658 Harrogate Road, the Leeds/Liverpool is about 1 mile down the road from Eccleshill, there are plans to open a railway station at Apperley bridge. Leeds/Bradford Airport is approx 2 miles away.
The climate is typical of northern England, summer temparatures ave 16C, winter 7C.
